We had a rental car broken into, May, 2019. The rental company told us they average around 20 a day, going up to 50 on busy rental days. They also said that in the aggregate, rental car companies have hundreds of break-ins per day.

We didn't file a police report and few do. Why bother? Car break-ins are grossly unreported for this reason. Check with the rental car companies.

We were traveling with another couple who were in San Francisco 5 months ago and had their rental car broken into at that time.

My wife and I would not visit San Francisco again due to the car break-ins, drugs, and homeless. Beautiful area with serious problems.

Actually parking tickets have to be paid. Not so with these "show up in court" theft tickets Indeed, these tickets are seldom issued because the police know that there's zero consequence for the perps not appearing in court for these "infractions."

Perhaps progressive San Francisco has hit on a novel violent crime solution: Let criminals take whatever they want, whenever they want -- with police and DA tacit approval -- and that may cut back on the criminal urge to kill for fun as well as profit.

Sheer genius!! Can't wait to move there!

As a Californian, ask yourself one question. Is your town or city better now than it was in 2008? Our small town in Northern California has been turned into a flop house for Drug Addicts who reside on Governent owned right of ways on the outskirts of town. (A right given them by the 9th Circus) They have been breaking into cars, houses and forcing their drug riddled dysfunction on the permanent residents. These folks have degraded our community, as well as the environment they flop on. Give credit to the California State legislators as well as the 9th Circus for their perversion of the judicial system. There are no assessments or check and balances to ensure that legislation, rulings or ill conceived laws are not harming society. Funny wonder Californians are bailing at a record pace. Sacramento remains as clueless as the Voters who elect them and it’s already become Apocalypic in our community.
