I agree with you.i believe Newsom sees a econonomic disaster as good. Blame Trump. Go after the middle income private sector workers.i see the 13.3% income tax rate as the goal. Teachers, public safety will get waivers. The state will also vote for wealth tax on the very wealthy, taxing assets at a small amount. The goal will be to eventually have a 401k tax on the portfolio of retirees with aa portfolio over $1000000.
This will be popular with illegals....millionaire tax.

In primary and secondary public education, failure generally leads to more funding. You get more of what you subsidize.

How do you see this unfolding?

The pensions and retiree healthcare costs are going to take down the whole system (and not just the school system).

But before that happens the politicians will bleed the taxpayers white.

That's how I see it unfolding.

This is all about overly generous health care benefits for retirees whose costs grow at 6% a year while funding (due to declining enrollment) is flat. The chart at the top of this link shows it clearly: http://laschoolreport.com/experts-crippling-long-term-debt-isnt-leaving-l-a-schools-much-wiggle-room-in-averting-a-teacher-strike-and-may-doom-the-district-to-takeover/ The cost of health care alone for staff and retirees is $2300 per student. The cost of retiree healthcare alone is $12,500 per teacher. California is also looking to expand healthcare coverage to undocumented residents but Medi-Cal recipients get treated at substantial discount to those one employer based insurance to this drives insurance costs even higher.
