LAO: Tax hike robs the middle class
John Seiler:
Democrats in the Legislature have been advertising their tax increase as hitting just the rich. Yeah. We get it. They think the “rich” are the middle class.
Now, the LAO confirms that:
The nonpartisan Legislative Analyst’s Office said today that a new Democratic tax swap proposal would raise taxes on middle-class Californians, counter to Democratic claims last week that it would lower taxes for all income groups.
The plan envisions raising state taxes on income and vehicles but lowering the state sales tax. Democrats said taxpayers would save by virtue of federal deductions and lower costs at the cash register.
Is anyone surprised? Whether Democrats or Republicans, everyone knows where the money is: With the middle class. At least until they leave the state.
Arnold, as I noted earlier, is driving around in gas-guzzling cars while obsessing over bogus “global warming.” The Democrats, as the LAO confirms, just want to loot the vanishing middle class — like a dope pusher getting one more payoff from a junkie before the junkie goes clean — or dies.
The Republicans only nominate rich folks detached from the realities the middle class suffers every day from the state’s arrogant, remote, hateful government bureaucrats.
Meanwhile, the state keeps crashing.
