Budget Bill Held For Late Today
Katy Grimes: As expected, in the Assembly, the budget bill, and three trailer bills (including the favor-laden transportation bill) went on call for final passage much later in the day.
The budget bill only received 39 votes, and the transportation trailer bill 41 of the 54 needed. Republicans don’t appear to be voting at all, and many Democrats are holding back for now.
Assemblywoman Diane Harkey, R-Dana Point, shared her dismay at receiving three volumes of budget bills this morning at 9:30. She also registered her disapproval at the attempt to pass High Speed Rail’s budget without a single accounting yet.
So much for the open and transparent process touted by leadership.
I hope everyone brought their pajamas and a snack.
