Living Large At CalPERS
Steven Greenhut: Given CalPERS’ ongoing scandals and all the bad publicity regarding public employees who enjoy absurd pension plans, one would think that CalPERS officials would be sensitive to anything that gave the impression that these employees are living large off of taxpayer largess. Yet check out the info on a CalPERS education forum at a fancy Indian Wells resort this week. I guess they couldn’t have the forum at their Taj Mahal HQ in Sacramento or book it at some modest hotel somewhere. They would be beneath the style to which CalPERS officials have become accustomed.
