CA IRS offices harassed conservative groups

California IRS offices harassed groups, reported the Daily Mail today. It was part of the burgeoning nationwide scandal of the IRS attacking more than 500 such groups.

The Daily Mail reported that a letter…

“came to Patriots Educating Concerned Americans Now (PECAN), a Redding, California conservative group, from an IRS office in the Orange County, California town of Laguna Niguel.

“That letter, dated January 31, 2012, asked 55 questions, including a demand for ‘complete copies of the organization’s website that is accessible to members only.’

“It also asked a series of pointed questions about PECAN’s relationship to the Redding Tea Party Patriots, an overtly political organization”….

A similar letter was sent from the IRS’s office in El Monte to a conservative group in Oklahoma, the Oklahoma City Patriots In Action. According to the Daily Mail:

“[This suggested] that the problem reached beyond the Cincinnati office where the [original] IG report focused.”

This is just the beginning of the uncovering of this IRS harassment.

Given that this Web site covers California, I’m especially interested to see what was done by IRS offices here.
