Bill Language To Change

After reading my story about AB 978, the bill proposing to streamline the business permitting process only for California businesses contracting with the state, the office of Assemblyman V. Manual Perez, the author of the bill, called me. Amy Wilson from Perez’s office expressed her concern that they may have “miscommunicated information” about the bill in the January 5th hearing, after reading my criticism that no one during the hearing discussed the streamlined permitting limitation to state contractors only. Wilson said that the intent of the bill was to include all businesses in California, not just those contracting with the state. Perez’s office will be preparing “a new, correct analysis,” and have offered to send me the revised analysis when they have it.

Perhaps it really will be a business-friendly bill.
