CA Leg: After we pass the bill, we’ll fix it

A strange trend is taking place at the State Capitol, and one which feels all too familiar after the passage of Obamacare.

California Legislators have been passing seriously flawed and incomplete bills out of committees under the proviso the author “works on it” before the bill gets to the floor of the Assembly or Senate.

We can thank Nancy Pelosi for her “we have to pass the bill so you can find out what’s in it” line of thinking. Now they all do it.

And while this ‘amend later’ process has been going on for some time, Pelosi certainly pulled it into the light. Now that Democrats have undeniable majorities, together with a compliant media and uninformed public, there is no need to hide it any more.

Now the bad public policy is being made in the broad light of day without compunction.

And it happened again today in the Senate Environmental Quality Committee. Three bills were passed out of the committee almost entirely along the Democratic party line, despite very rational, serious, legal and technical objections. (My story about these bills will be published later)

The proper procedure is to require the bill to be held in that committee while the author makes the technical changes, or accepts and implements amendments into the bill. Then the committee votes to pass the bill along to the next committee.

At least that is the procedure for Republican bills.

Obamacare is great for the simple fact it will hasten the pace of breaking up of the RAGWUS and thus help in getting rid of the Union cartel that has distroyed California. 🙂

Perhaps you can explain how that will work, Donkey? Your conclusion isn’t apparent to anyone who knows what the law will entail.

Procedures? They are puppets and follow orders. If they think it best to pass without knowing what is in it, big deal. If no one calls them out on this, what difference to them. These politicians are amoral and in it for the money and perks.

SKdog, Niccolo had you pegged hundreds of years ago. But because you are soooooo dense I will give that empty box sitting on your neck a hint: the middle class and lower class taxpayers have no disposable income to give for a new class of RAGWUS healthcare feeders. You RAGWUS crooks are hastening your own demise, and are doing it in a very ignorant and doltish fashion. 🙂

That still doesn’t provide anything to support your first claim about ACA somehow being involved with unions, etc. It does seem that you’ve found your old Cliff Notes version of The Prince. You should have someone read the full version to you sometime. I don’t think you’d understand it, since it’s really a primer on public administration, but at least you could claim that you’d actually studied it.
