Report: Global warming data bogus

Report: Global warming data bogus

Schwazenegger signs AB 32Can we repeal AB 32 now? Both Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who signed AB 32 (shown in the nearby picture), and Gov. Jerry Brown, who is implementing it, said global warming science was “certain.”

But now there’s more evidence the temperatures were cooked, like putting a match under your thermometer in a hospital to get attention from the nurse. From the London Telegraph:

another damning example has been uncovered by Steven Goddard’s US blog Real Science, showing how shamelessly manipulated has been one of the world’s most influential climate records, the graph of US surface temperature records published by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Goddard shows how, in recent years, NOAA’s US Historical Climatology Network (USHCN) has been “adjusting” its record by replacing real temperatures with data “fabricated” by computer models. The effect of this has been to downgrade earlier temperatures and to exaggerate those from recent decades, to give the impression that the Earth has been warming up much more than is justified by the actual data. In several posts headed “Data tampering at USHCN/GISS”, Goddard compares the currently published temperature graphs with those based only on temperatures measured at the time. These show that the US has actually been cooling since the Thirties, the hottest decade on record; whereas the latest graph, nearly half of it based on “fabricated” data, shows it to have been warming at a rate equivalent to more than 3 degrees centigrade per century.

Yet just last week, Brown and the Legislature included $250 million in funding for the high-speed rail from the state’s cap-and-trade program from AB 32. The reason was that, when the train is built (unlikely anyway), it will reduce greenhouse gases as people switch from planes and cars, thereby reducing global warming.

Except there’s no global warming.

    Poor John-

While I defend your right to be a denier—–

It is very ignorant. Seriously- no offense. But I get it! It’s cool. The crowd you hang out in ignores the 97% of the world’s climate scientists and you need cover. You wouldn’t want to stand from that crowd, Don’t worry little buddy! You don’t— in ANY way!

    Mmmmm– nite nite.

Ted: 1. The numbers were bogus, so the supposed 97% were misled. Garbage in, garbage out.

      2. Even the 97% number is bogus:

      3. The “crowd I hang out in” actually is apolitical.

It’s 70 degrees F here on the beach. No global warming at all.

And you didn’t debunk my links, which were not “bogus,” but factual.

The only thing bogus here is the global warming cooked numbers.

David Friedman, son of Milton, is a believer (not a Believer) in AGW. He took a look at the 97% claim. As should have been suspected, it’s not quite true:

So you argue over 97 to 93% ??

What happened to the “precautionary principle”

Or do the religious right folks only beleive it if it’s in the bible?

there is no such thing as a denier ….. that is bigotry and idiocy on your part.

there is no evidence to support the so called crisis .. if it is a crisis then ALL politicians need to stop flying around for fund raising, stop driving in limos, in fact stay in the capitals and do what they are there to do.

cronies get rich and the People get F’d.

NASA has been a pointless, sclerotic government bureaucracy since the Apollo program ended 40 years ago. The Space Shuttle was a flying Yugo Nixon approved to keep the funding going; it crashed 2% of the time. NASA now can’t even put men in space — or women for that matter — and has to rely on the Russians.

Oh come on, John. Are you really pinning your hopes on a British tabloid story that reprints nothing more than the scientifically uninformed and outright misleading information some blogger without any climate science training publishes on his own blog? Is that what constitutes journalistic integrity these days at CWD?

You Gorites are such simple-minded, your real zeal for the weather doom lies in the taxes you can steal not in defense of Gaia.

You are worried about the source of the story when we have GED clowns investigating the murder of teenage girls!! 🙂

      The Telegraph isn’t a tabloid.

      You’re writing on a blog.

Blogs certainly have their place, John, but they generally don’t provide much in the way of accurate science or peer review. They are merely places to post and exchange opinions, much of which is the digital equivalent of writing on the restroom walls.

The Daily Telegraph is the self proclaimed voice of the Conservative party in the UK, so much so that it is often referred to as the “Daily Torygraph” by its own owner and editorial staff. That makes it the print equivalent of Fox “News” and a worthy recipient of the title “tabloid.”

Consensus? Please. Cook’s consensus papers have been proven time and time again to be utter nonsense at best. But let’s go ahead, for the sake of discussion, pretend that 97% of all scientists agree that warming is occurring. Not climate scientists, but ALL scientists. My response is, so what? Science is not about consensus. Scientists agreed at one time the earth was flat. Many scientists also believed, not too long ago, that holes in the ozone were permanent. We were also lead to believe, again, not too long ago, that the planet was cooling. When we tread down the path of consensus, real science ends, and all we’re left with is political nonsense. And to the firm believers, go look at the satellite RSS data, and enjoy your 17 years of zero recorded warming. And don’t even get me started as to why even if we were to begin gobal warming, that it wouldn’t be a BAD thing. It certainly wouldn’t be the “doom” that the alarmists are preaching. I’ll conclude my somewhat disjointed response with this : What happened with 350PPM that was to spell certain doom for the planet? We’re past 400PPM CO2 now, and well, nothing, other than plant life doing a bit better. Long before the magical 350ppm number, it was 300ppm that was certain doom. Noticing a pattern?
